The Gunny’s Barbeque Story
On April 8, 2024, Gunny’s Barbeque LLC Celebrates its Twelfth year of Operation
To the left is the original Gunny’s Barbeque “truck and trailer” from 2012. Gunnery Sergeant Louie Aviles, a retired United States Marine who served his country for over 20 years, Gunny now serves his community with authentic Puerto Rican style Barbecue with a Southwestern influence.
Originally founded in Sierra Vista, Gunny has gone mobile at the request of many fans including the American Border Patrol, Donovan Dodge, MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) on Ft Huachuca, and ventured into neighboring Arizona communities, including Palominas, Bisbee, Benson, Tombstone, Flagstaff, Tucson, Morenci. Hereford, Wilcox, Huachuca City, and Vail.
Gunny’s Barbeque participates in many charitable events such as Boots for our Troops Foundation, Bikers for Boots, Salvation Army. Republican Foundation, Cochise County Children’s Crisis Center, Echoing Hope Ranch, Buena High School, Huachuca City Middle School, and Whetstone Fire Department.
During these eight years, as Gunny’s Barbeque fans increased, Gunny’s dream of owning his very own Mobile Food Concession trailer came to fruition in October of 2019. Thanks to his heavenly father, his loyal followers, friends, and family. Now new enthusiasts alike can experience his culinary inspirations on a more permanent basis.
